Why People Pay for Information They Can Get For Free

I have no doubt in my mind that you’ve thought to yourself – why would anyone pay me for information that they can easily get for free online?

It’s not a bad question!

The answer though is quite simple and straightforward…

Convenience.

While it’s not probable or likely that you’ll get everyone of your viewers to pay for your product, you WILL get a certain percentage of people that will pay for your product simply for the sake of you making it easy and convenient for them.

Focus on giving value, being authentic and making your viewers lives easier and you’ll be far ahead of most others on the web!

Let’s take the topic of photography as an example…

Suppose that my photo blog has 350 different blog posts covering a wide range of photography sub-topics.

A viewer might stumble in from Google to learn more about wedding photography… and while you might have everything that they’d need to know about wedding photography covered within those 350 blog posts, they are spread out across your website on different pages (not to mention also spread out between the website and your YouTube channel) and it’s likely going to take the viewer a significant amount of time to ultimately find everything they’d want to know.

Conversely, you could easily package up all of your wedding photography tutorials and create an ebook or video course and at the bottom of each of your wedding photography posts simply give them a call to action to learn more about your wedding photography handbook (or whatever your name is).

Make sense?

The major takeaway is don’t assume that no one will buy your product because they can easily find what they need to know online.

Not only can you give them a more convenient option but they also might simply enjoy your teaching style more than other content creators on the same topic.

Focus on giving value, being authentic and making your viewers lives easier and you’ll be far ahead of most others on the web!
